I really think aside from people who've never met her, Jesus Christ is the only One who LOVES Genie (http://www.feralchildren.com/en/showchild.php?ch=genie) :cry

Do you think she will see the Kingdom of God? What argument do you think this boils down to (i.e. age of accountability)?

Everytime I think of her, I'm rattled.

I saw the movie and its still one of the saddest things I have ever heard.

Certainly Gods Mercy covers that poor child, the least of His children.

God knows and loves her. trust his mercy! and pray.

I can't figure out why WHY? after she grew up so badly misused that they would allow her to be with her mother again.

in reading the article it looks as though she lost hope and then started deterioating.

Genie?

:confusedThe Story of Genie

On November 4, 1970 a girl was discovered. She had been locked in a room alone for over ten years. She was tied to a potty chair and left to sit alone day after day. At night, she was tied into a sleeping bag which restrained her arms. She was put into an over-sized crib with a cover made of metal screening. Often she was forgotten. On those nights she slept tied to the potty chair.

At first, people could hardly believe that Genie was thirteen years old. While she seemed to understand a few words, the only words she could say were, "stopit" and "nomore." She had a strange bunny-like walk— she held her hands up in front of her like paws and moved in a halting way. She could not chew solid food and could hardly swallow. She spat constantly. She sniffed. She was not toilet-trained and could not focus her eyes beyond 12 feet. She weighed 59 pounds and was 54 inches tall.

There are also accounts of people in underdeveloped countries finding abandoned children running with wolves and such. I think it's terrible to "rescue" kids like that. There is no point, IMO.

I'm most likely the minority in saying that, but it makes more sense to leave them be.

What do you mean "leave them be"? She was locked in a room, tied to a potty chair during the day and tied to a restraining sleeping bag at night. :cry :cry :cry

I meant children who live in the wild. Genie... oh my heavens no her Father should've been shot execution style for what he did and her mother should never see the light of day for not caring two hecks.

I think the children who are abondoned at birth and left to survive with pack animals. These are children who can't and will never function in a human environment. Decades of testing has proven this. They are of more value where they lived most of their life.

My belief is, it is not an issue of Genie's salvation, but of her parents. Does anyone here really believe the loving God and Savior we believe in would ever reject or not love a child that has survived this unbelievable type of abuse and the so-called life she has lived to this point? As an abuse survivor myself, even though my suffering is nothing in comparison to this poor child's, various scriptures tell us how much God especially holds dear & loves those who have been unloved, abused, neglected, and rejected. To me, there is not a doubt as to the salvation of this poor child, no matter at what age and/or time it happens, our Lord & Savior will be bringing her home at some point, where she can be tenderly loved and healed, forever in His care.
