The weirdest thing happened to me. I was laying on the couch about a half hour ago praying and just about to take a cat nap. I felt the presence of the Lord and was happily resting in Him, and all of a sudden, I got this chill and this horrible feeling like there was someone/something evil watching me sleeping on the couch. I couldn't shake this feeling, and I just had to open my eyes and look around the room to be sure noone was there. I was pretty scared. I tried to pray and submit my fears to God, but I was really sensing something evil in the room. :fear
Has anyone ever had this happen?

Yes indeedy. All you have to do is say 'I rebuke you in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord' and it will flee. Also an idea I got from this message board is at night, sleeping with my Bible open. Whenever I get that feeling I open my Bible to John 3:16 (I have a bookmark on that page) and leave it open all night-- and I have no problem.

You literally have the power to make it flee. Demons tremble at the name Jesus.

And one of the nights it happened to me, I was having bad dreams and tossing and turning. I lifted my head and opened my eyes and it was a face in front of me, bluish-grayish-transparent in color. I just called on Jesus and it was gone.

I do believe I've probably had many instances such as this, but just didn't recognize what I was sensing if that makes any sense, but I have always said and memorized that verse "Submit yourself therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you, draw nigh (near) to God and He will draw nigh to you," and whatever is bothering me is gone, everytime.....

Oh yes and I have kept this huge bible on my bed at night once and when I woke up (middle of the night, or next day), I felt and sensed total complete love from the bible on my bed.....It was kind of weird, but very comforting.....Cheers Danielle

Just a clarification on this---WE don't have the power, Christ does. We can invoke that power by using His name.

MOST definitely. Thank you for clarifying. I even thought that after I typed it but I figured you'd know that was what I meant. Without Him we are nothing.

My wife has recently experienced it as more than just a feeling, but as a physical presence. When she got scared and prayed, she felt the physical presence lift from her chest.

Often, I think the stronger you are in the Lord, the stronger the attacks on you, or perhaps the more closely you're watched.

I've had experiences like this pretty much on a monthly basis since I moved to alabama.

When we were in Texas and Europe, it depended on what places we went to whether or not something would happen. We've been to Roman Colusseums, and I must say that was a Cool place, but spiritually speaking, very dark and eerie.

When I was in Germany, we went to several Catholic and Lutheran churches, with tons of imagery, gargoyles and even masonic symbology all over them. They also had the same evil, ominous feeling as the roman colloseums in Spain.. went to Synogogue and to a cemetery, and felt peace.

Things have happened before that I"ve woken up to opression, or experienced it while alone in my house or room.

We do have the Holy Spirit and Y'shua to back us up on it, and we have only to rebuke it, and command it in his name back to the dry places it came from.

Where I live, is a very spiritually dark place with many pagan things that go on behind the scenes in our area... and this month and a few others are very "high traffic" months for activity.

We definitely do not war with flesh and blood, but with the spirit.

I am certain you are correct. Because the tighter you are with the Lord, the greater a threat you are to their evil cause.

Here where I live now, there is a lot of evil presence, and I'm convinced a lot of people who are demonized, however, they've left me alone for the most part. We did have one in a house in which we once lived, but I can only speculate as to what it was. It took the form of a woman, and we both saw it at different times, but did not tell each other as we didn't want to appear crazy. We thought it was a ghost at the time. But, I woke up more than once with it bending over me looking at me.

Yes, this has happened to me many times. Usually a rebuke with scripture in the name of Jesus is sufficient. But one time the evil presence was so strong and oppressive it took a good hour on my knees to get rid of it. That was a battle I don't want to repeat.

I also believe that God's angels are present with us all the time. Alot of times the angels battle with these evil spirits and we end up not being harrassed, because the angel has taken care of it for us.

Other times God tests us by allowing the demon to attack us, instructing His angel agent to wait and watch to see what we will do. Certainly He wants us to pray fervently and call on Jesus to make it go away since it seems that is what makes it go away.

I do think we have an angel around us all the time. Do you guys think so?

Has anyone seen previews of the new horror movie coming out "The Grudge"? Some of those images look totally eerie to me - like something you would see in your worst nightmare. I don't know where they get the imagination for that stuff. :scared Some of the images makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Yes, I've had quite a number of those experiences, with the ghastly/ghostly face and all. The enemy is obviously trying hard to stop something in your life. I don't know if you are young in the Lord or not, but alot of things I experienced like this early on taught me basics of what I learn today. Never forget that God is always training you to learn when to fight, and when to simply stand your ground, and when to gather. You have absolute unconditional authority over your home. The enemy has to leave, so you command him to leave out loud. It doesn't have to be loud, but I mean audibly.

The interesting thing is, before I met my husband four years ago, I never even heard of spiritual warfare. But his parents went to a "warfare" church and he and I attended for awhile and I never had experienced any of these strong demonic feelings before. This was the first time I really felt like someone/something was in the room. I silently prayed, but for some reason, I was too afraid to say the name "Jesus" out loud. But it's interesting that this happened to me shortly after I rededicated my life to the Lord and had my own "spiritual revival" and my husband and I are in this together very strongly. So it must be true that because we have vowed to get closer to the Lord that we are being attacked. We've actually had a horrible week in general--everything that could go wrong has, and yet we feel closer to Jesus than ever! I don't know how any Christian can honestly say that we aren't in a spiritual battle!

I have a silly question too--I know that the real name of Jesus is Yeshua in Hebrew. Do you think demons care which language you use in pronouncing His name? Like if a Spanish-speaking person used the name of our Lord in his language, would the demons flee? Or is it only the Holy name of our Lord? Anybody know? :confused

Hdoggie, I think as long as you're asking Jesus to make the evil flee and He knows all . I don't think it makes any difference if the demon knows what language it's in. Besides, what if you CAN'T talk. Then it's all up to your mind to ask the Lord, and I know the Lord knows your thoughts... so..

Language does not matter. The Lord knows who you are calling and so do the demons. Although I love saying 'Yeshua' cause it sounds cool.

Yes I am very young in my newfound relationship with the Lord (10/31 will be three months), and I know for a fact the demons are busy and can't stand it. But they're gonna hafta get over it cause I know Who to call to make them leave me alone.

The book, "Bondage Breaker" by Neil T. Anderson (available through amazon.com, for one) talks about demons and how they oppress us. He says demons cannot read our minds, so we must rebuke them audibly. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has trouble with recurrent sin in their life. It was an eye opener for me.

If you'd like some Christian fiction books on the subject, I recommend Frank Peretti. I just started reading it based on the recommendation of a Christian sister. The one I am reading now is This Present Darkness. I also bought The Prophet and another one I can't remember the name. Hadn't read those two yet.

I've had this happen to me just in a few nights ago. I usually have alot of peace about me, but a few nights ago something woke me up and caused so much fear within me- I rebuked it and spent the next hour in prayer-

Does't happen often- BUT one particular night my hubby and I both encountered this fear. We prayed together- fearing for our family and home.
The next morning a police officer came to our door- telling us that our car windows (parked on the street) were broken out.

Sometimes I feel insecure or afraid in my home at night. I don't know whether my fear is caused by demons or just by my mind playing tricks on me. Regardless of the cause, when I pray for God to send His angels to surround and protect me from the demons, I feel better. :):

I had a similar experience one night when I was restless and decided to go sleep on the couch. The first half of the sleep was restful, then all of a sudden a fear swept over me concerning evil. I thought to run into the room and cuddle up next to my wife, but the Holy Spirit urged me to stay put and be of good courage. I prayed and did. Everything was well.

In hindsight, I believe it was simply an opportunity to exercize my faith. The same might be true for you.

Great book! Also, if you can find any books by Mickey Bonner, they are fabulous.
