As a christian, Are we REALLY chosen?, I mean preaches etc are always going on about God chosing us etc etc, I even had a preacher prophisy ove my life, He said God has put a seal on my life, And i will be a MIGHTY man of God, He said he cannot express what God has in store for me, He burst into tears and hugged me. Now me being 17, I was a little perplexed by this, Because, I have just a normal life, I can't play instruments or anything, Can't sing, So what am i ggonna do?, I'm not questioning God, But nothing about me is really special, Except my passion "Basketball", But i don't see how that gonna me me something mighty is it?, Im confused, Please help, Sorry if this question is not making sense, Im having trouble putting down what i want to say, sorry and thanks in advance

If the preacher was talking particulars, I would be skeptical. But his generalized comments, I think, apply to us all. The question is what is "mighty" to God, and whom does he use? Think of the countless examples of seemingly flawed men God used in the OT, that were indicative of the fact that God was at work and not of the own person's doing.

And your questions do make sense, and sound much like Moses questioning God.

Exodus 3 -
11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

It would be worthwhile to study the phrase "mighty men" "mighty men of God" and Mighty men of Valor in the Bible (found in the KJV).

Though this can refer to strength and bravery, many times the reference to being mighty is a reference to deep inner character. THis comes by actively studying the Word of God and by learning to cultivate a relationship with him. Character is formed by the accumulation of the decisions that you make on a day to day basis.

God responds to those who take Him at His word. Learning to understand how he works in the world is important. Many people do not believe that God has a personal plan for their life. They believe that God is Distant. But that is not true.

But a person must actively pray to learn about the will of God for their own life, and they must actively seek to follow Him. People cannot simply drift in their Christian walk and expect a thunderbolt out of Heaven. The information is there in the Bible, but we must learn how to use it.

Many people will be afraid when you ask them this question. They are afraid that you could be right, and they are also afraid that this may somehow mean something about their life.

THey may fear that it can mean that their lives are not worthy, because they are not mighty. Thankfully, the Bible teaches that all of us can become Mighty men of Valor. But that applies often more to the spiritual world...than it does to the physical world.

Setting your ambitions high with God is a great goal.
