My father did some work for some messianic Jews recently and discovered they have a home bible study 3 times a week. Mom and I would love to attend but aren't sure if it's considered rude to invite yourself?

DH and I have a home Bible study, and would see nothing wrong with someone calling to ask about it. We would welcome anyone who wants to be a part of it. We just get a few more chairs. :D:
They could be like us, and have limited space (in their home). And some people like to keep the groups to 10-15 or less, so that no one gets lost in the crowd. So, contact them and ask if they have 'room' for a few more people. If they have a problem with that, then maybe this group isn't right for you.
Hope you find a wonderful group to study with!

As far as I know, as long as you call ahead and ask the times and "what to wear/expect and bring" it's AOK to go. :):
We have had some weird stuff happen at a few of our meetings before due to just people not being informed... but HEY!! All of us are human :D:
I've been to home study groups myself, and they're usually very nice. :):

I bet they'll be tickled to death. Just make sure you do call and ask first.

Thanks for the feedback!
I recently read a true book about a Jewish family. The daughter got saved and after studying the bible to prove her wrong the whole family ended up believers. I've realized how much I'm missing by my unawareness of the Jewish perspective, beliefs, traditions, etc. It's as if all this time I've been reading with my eyes half closed. I want to learn more.

Betrayed, by Stan Telchin (sp?). Loved it!! Especially in light of the fact that he was trying so hard to disprove his daughter.
There are some good books out there, and some great references here at RR in different threads. The book that began my journey was The Biblical Holidays, which is a great home study book, especially for Gentiles ;): . I put a Bible study together on Messiah in the Feast Days after reading this book, and several similar to it. The study group loved it!! The website for the book has some great info too:
http://www.biblicalholidays.com/
Our Father Abraham, by Marvin Wilson, is another good 'starter' book.
ANYTHING written by Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum, whose website is:
http://www.ariel.org/
Alfred Edersheim was another Jewish scholar that has some really good books out there, and because they are older books, they are less expensive.
There is lots of great materials out there available to those of us who long to learn more. Hope you enjoy the journey as much as we do.
You can pm me if you have any questions about the above, or are looking for something more specific, and I can be of assistance. Just remember, I'm a babe when it comes to this too. :D:

That was it, Walkbyfaith! "Betrayed". He wasn't even a religiously educated Jew and I was amazed at his understanding of things. My mom read it and had the same reaction.
A friend just sent me Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum's website. I want every book on there!! :D:
I'll be looking into those other books also, thanks for posting them and I'll PM if I have any questions. I suspect I'll be pretty busy for awhile. :D:

SeaDreamer:
Get every tape that Arnold has as well. Started on the Frucht in 1969 when he still wore a jacket and tie. I was at the actual meeting where he first started dressing western.

:lol I didn't know he dressed western.
I looked all over the place yesterday and nobody carries Footsteps which is what I'd like to read first so I'll just order it online (I wanted to support the local christian bookstore first).
I almost fell over in shock when I saw Todd and Terry's book in Books-A-Million. :thumb
Anywayyy.....right now I'm printing out the excerpts from his radio broadcasts and really enjoying them. It seems I've said this in every thread lately but I'm simply astounded at how the bible comes alive when learning from a jewish perspective.
