I am a Southern Baptist. I was invited by a friend to attend an AOG tonight. They prayed for healing of several people. The preacher said that if we want to be healed and believe, then we can be healed. Questions began flowing through my mind. What about Paul ? he wasn't healed even though he went to God three times and was told that " my Grace is sufficient . " What about the pool of Bethesda? When 1 man out of many was healed ? Are the Assemblies Of God and The Church of God into the WOF movement ? Also the preacher said that a great revival is just before breaking out. I thought that there was a falling away and the great revival that is to take place , will be during the Tribulation period when many will come to Christ through the preaching of the 144,000 Jewish witnesses.

Can someone tell me if Assemblies of God and The Church of God ( not the Armstrong One ) are into the wof movement ?

I can't answer that question but I will say that someone can be healed. It is Gods soveriegn decision though. Sometimes he says no.

Very few, if any of the AoG churches are into the WoF movement. Individual churches vary so it is possible.

God can and does heal when He wants to. Sometimes as a result of prayers. Very seldom does true healing take place in a healing service today. How much we believe does not guarantee healing.

Jill, we still believe in and teach the entire Bible, including James 5:13-15. None of our AoG churches that I know of teach WOF doctrine. But we do teach that God can heal someone at any time and will heal according to His purpose. We very much believe in praying and anointing with oil for God's healing (read James 5:13-15). God will also heal in different ways. Joni E-Tada comes to mind. God healed her in her spirit, but not physically so her testimony would be to His greater glory. I personally know a few people who have had miraculous healings and some who have their healing after going home to heaven.

As far as revival, could the pastor possibly have been referring to a local revival or a revival in that particular church and not of the endtimes? I know our church (AoG) prays fervently for a great revival to break out, not only in our local church, but in our city as well. Nothing WOF about wanting nor having a revival.

Thanks for your answers. I just am not familar with AOG and Church of God denominations. I know that some believe that certain people are given the gift of healing , and although I believe in healing , I don't believe certain people are given the "gift" of healing. I also don't believe that it is God's will to heal everyone. But to hear them talk, they say that one is not healed because of their lack of faith to be healed and I think this is in error. It has not to do with our faith , but with God's will , but the preacher said that we are not healed because of a lack of faith or that we do not want to be healed. I also have heard the same thing said in The Church of God. This is why I was questioning these two charismatic denominations.

I am AOG and have been taught that sometimes God says NO and that an unanswered prayer is not a sign of weak faith.

I am not AOG, but my BIL and SIL are both pastors in AOG churches. Also, I have known the senior pastor of the largest AOG church in our city for years. From my observances through the years, you will find that each AOG church may vary on how much WOF teaching you will find in it. It not only depends on the pastor, but the background of the members.

This is why you will find some AOG churches that are mostly pentecostal and others that seem mildly charismatic. The AOG churches I visited decades ago seemed like baptist churches which had gone a little charismatic. Now some resemble full pentecostal churches, adhering closer to the "Toronto Blessing" mindset than old line AOG worship. Just MHO, for what it's worth. :):

Hi Jill...

I've attended various AOG churches for the last 14 years, and what the previous posters have said have been true in my experience. I haven't run into any real WOF teaching...

Since I haven't seen anybody post it... here is the official AOG website. You can find their statement of faith, and all kinds of position papers on a multitude of subjects. www.ag.org

Hope it clears things up for you.

WOF is The Word of Faith Movement. Here is a link. You can also type in WOF into a search bar and get many results.

where we are many AoG churches are into wof, a lot of charismatic/pentecostal stuff. many people in the AoG churches go and start their own churches and get lost into Wof.
