...but why? :confused What have we done to make people hate us so much? I have faced a lot of ridicule and persecution in my life just because I am a Christian and I read about the upcoming persecution that Christians will face and I am so sad. We never did anything but love our God and love our neighbor as commanded.

It MUST be satan-induced. Nothing else makes sense to me. :cry

Not exactly. I have had people get mad at me when witnessing. Not because I was rude, but because I told them what sin was, and God was going to hold everyone accountable.

Without believers speaking of judgement and wrath to come, or God's laws they will be held too, they would feel more free to stay in their sinful lifestyle.

A lot of my Pagan friends rejected me when I repented, left witchcraft and went back to Jesus. It was useful in showing me who were my genuine friends.

I view the vitriolic answer of unbelievers to anything Christian in various places, and realise they can't help it. They're sleeping under the control of Satan and don't realise it, like we all were once. Only the Holy Spirit will get through to them.

Jhn 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Jhn 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Jhn 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Jhn 15:23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

In other words, if somebody hates you for the sake of Christ it is because they hate Jesus Christ and the Father.

I think *hate* might be a little harsh of a word. I don't hate Mormons or JW's but I think they're way out in left field. I think many people are *annoyed* at Christians more than anything because of the things that are said at times.

Remember right after 9/11 Pat Robertson decided to get cute and said that the attack was the wrath of God against the Homo's and feminists. Jerry Falwell also agreed with Pat and later they both retracted realizing they acted ignorant.

Many people from all different kinds of religious backgrounds are disliked. Buddhists have been persecuted at times and they're one of the most mellow and gentle people around.

We exist. That's about all it takes these days--and not even just for Christians (although certainly for us too), but for people in general. There's a whole lot of hatred out there of the human race by the human race.
The amazing thing is that we all willingly choose to follow One who tells us that the world will hate us. No other religion tells you right up front, "the world is going to hate you if you believe us. Now come and follow us."

At any rate, I think both Ciscokid and you are correct. You in the sense that it's Satan-induced, and Ciscokid in the sense that many people are annoyed at Christians because of the things some fringe radicals have said--and what I mean to say by combining the two is that people have a natural (and justified) annoyance at the fringe radicals and Satan can play on that by spiritually blinding people and convincing them that all Christians are like that.
Or, at the very least, even if I'm not correct about that, it was certainly my experience, speaking as a former agnostic--I was honestly convinced that my three or four Christian friends were very much exceptions to the extremist rule. We do need to present ourselves as relatively faultless and non-hypocritical as we can, of course, but some people still aren't going to be able to see it.

John 15:18
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

Luke 21:17
And you will be hated by all for My name's sake.

Well if I have to be hated for something I guess I would rather be hated for being a Christian than say--an ax murderer---a baby killer---a thief-- and so on. MY SOUL IS SAFE IN GODS HANDS. Sticks and stones may break my bones but they cant hurt my soul. When satan blinds people he does a good job, One day if they ever get sved , they will be just like us and wonder why unsaved people act like they do. I know because I remember when I wasnt saved. The best thing we can do is PRAY FOR THEM.
