View Full Version : The BEMA: The Judgement Seat of Christ

Hi All! I'm new and rapture ready. ;)
I found a really good read called "The Bema" which is a fiction book but seems very theologically sound. Its similar to the Left Behind books in that its about those days leading up to the Rapture and the lives affected by the removing of the church from the earth.
Only "The Bema" is about what happens from the raptured church viewpoint.
Although the book won't get a literature award, its an interesting read in that the thoughts and ideas put together with scripture and what we know about God's character and His plans makes a very thought provoking book for me.
Its enhanced my views so I might live for the day. :clap

Agreed on this book! I mentioned this book on another thread, and had hoped to have it finished by now so that I could post a review. I am on page 75 finally and am REALLY enjoying it. He knows how to really drive a point home.
:nod
I got my copy at walmart.com rather cheap.

This is a great book. It is the story of a lukewarm Christian who shrugs off his faith in pursuit of worldly things. The story is about him being taken up in the rapture of the church and his experience at BEMA, the judgment seat of Christ.
This is a must read -- it will REALLY get you thinking about things!!

Pastor Pete Briscoe of Bent Tree Bible Fellowship (http://www.btbf.org (http://www.btbf.org/)) did a two part 'dramatic' sermon based upon the book a few years ago. I believe the video is still available. I also remember seeing a post here (I think it was here) of someone else doing the 'play' also. I want to say it was off the Harvest site but I'm not sure.

Ohhh!!! I want that book! I'll have to keep an eye out for that one--I have yet to read an end-times novel that is written from the Raptured Church's point of view!
I suppose the poor man in the novel spends eternity as a Heavenly bum. =(

Better to be a bum in Heaven than in Hell, though!

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, Pete Briscoe did a performance and play based on the book. I'd love to see it!
Heavenly bum, eh? LOL Well, you should read the book because you'll be surprised that the main character probably does better at the Bema than you think. ;)

I bought this book based on the rave reviews I saw here. I hated it.
He spent pages describing how he couldn't describe what he was seeing in heaven. He also presented his time with Jesus as going over every bad thing he ever did. My understanding is that we are judged on what we did for Him, not the devil.
It gave the devil a real foothold to shower condemnation on me. I was depressed for days after reading this horrible story.
