I have an important question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me.
Do "tears of blood" have ANY link to Christian symbolism?
And if so, what is the meaning/interpretation that is to be attached to this description/image/experience?
Thank you all in advance for your time.

Nothing yet?
I'm sure there's at least one person who might have some thoughts on this subject (???)
Oh well, to be perfectly honest, I was hoping to find some responses before heading off to bed.
See, I had a VERY disturbing dream a couple weeks back that had some religious elements to it and this was just a part of it.
I know that sometimes a dream is just a dream but for me, whenever there is a religious aspect to it I give it a second thought!
Well, if anyone comes across anything or merely has some thoughts on the subject it would be greatly appeciated.
Just trying to connect the dots - - if possible!
Thank you.

All I know is, Christ perspired in blood during his agony in the garden. Which doctors have discussed as a result of EXTREME stress. I guess it could happen to anyone if they were in bad enough shape ... it just shows what an ordeal JC went through.
Now ... are we talking about a statue weeping blood? Or JC? Or a person ....?
If it's some statue somewhere, I would be very very skeptical.

I always pictured Jesus sweating big drops of sweat that were (like) or (as) great drops of blood, but not actual blood. :confused
I do recall hearing of catholic statues of Mary reported as crying blood.
I've talked about sweating bullets before but I did not mean it literally... I suppose I thought of the blood part as meaning big steady drip drip drip, like when you cut yourself- instead of a sweat that just wetted his armpits or clothes.

Thank you all for your replies.
I too, am familiar with the Catholic symbolism as it relates to the statues of Mary.
Ok, I hesitate to do this, but allow me to give you the basic contents of my dream - - the dream that is prompting me to ask this question.
Keep in mind that this was a dream so please don't flame me for something out of my control.
Again, I am just curious to receive other people's thoughts/interpretations because this one one dream that FREAKED me out - - especially, with the overwhelming religious feel to it!
On one final note, those of you who have been passionately debating 'The Passion,' please know that this dream happened roughly 1-2 months BEFORE the movie was released and, furthermore, I'm don't particularly hold one position over the other when it comes to the film.
CONTENTS OF DREAM:
Myself, along with maybe 10-20 other strangers, entered an old cabin-like building. Except, once we were inside it gave me the feeling of being in an old church from say the early days of this country.
It was at night, and the inside of this building was very dimly lit with what appeared to be candlelight in various parts of the room - - although no sign of candles.
We all then got the impression that we should take our seats and did except the seats were, again, churchlike and seemed to resemble pews in some way.
The movie 'The Passion' was playing on the screen and just moments into it I began to notice the effect it had on the others in the room.
The best way I can describe it was that it was like I was the only sane person in a mental health institution. One person was in the fetal position on the floor crying. Another sat facing the corner of the room. Another slouched over intheir seat drooling with a blank stare on their face. The rest were more or less in similar shape - - like zombies/robots.
That's when I realized that something - - some force - - had noticed that I was not affected like the others. I couldn't see this 'force' but felt it noticing me. (Think that creepy eye thing in the 'Lord of The Rings' trilogy!).
I immediately ran into the next room where I found just one other person who, like me, was afraid that they were 'found out.' The next thing I know, he's screaming and I look back for him and he's dead lying on the ground.
At this precise moment, I look down and my hands are side by side, cupped like they're ready to catch something. Just then, blood drips down into the palms of both hands from my nose.
I noticed a broken mirror on the wall in what now seemed like a dirty/deserted bathroom. I approached it to check my nose in the mirror and when I was able to see my face I noticed, simultaneously, tears of blood slowly streaming for both corners of both eyes down my face.
That's it!
I'm hoping to get the 'sometimes a dream is just a dream' response from you all but please, feel free to share ANY thoughts/comments/ideas that come to mind.
