Would God ever grant this request: to be able to see your "guardian angel/angels"? I know that my old pastor asked to be able to see the spirit world around him, angels and demons, and after several months, God opened his eyes, and he was stricken with fear, and asked God to shut his eyes to it. My mother's friend when she was a child, said she could see her angel, and communicate with it regularly. Might that have been demonic? Does each Christian have just one angel "assigned" to them, or multiple angels. Comments?

If it would make you stumble and trust in your angel, or any angel, rather than God then you will not see it. IMHO. Angels who serve God do not want the attention directed to them, and want everyone focused on our Creator. Whether every believer has an angel watching over them or not, we are all indwelt with the Holy Spirit, and so we don't need an angel to keep us safe. God is with us Himself!

If anyone feels it's cool to think we have a guardian angel sent by God to watch over each of us, then how should we feel about God indwelling us and being with us always and forever?!

Halleluyah! and Maranatha! :dancing

Good point John. We are to worship Jesus, not angels, and seek His presence first and foremost.

I am not saying that anyone on here worships angels, but rather we should put them in proper perspective. I believe God uses angels, perhaps as messengers, to lead people into heaven after death, etc. (just speculation), but one day we will judge angels.

But we know from the Word that 2/3 of the angels God created remained faithful to Him.

Not that I've even ever asked God for this, because I haven't I just think it would be amazing to see one, and I've heard of many acquaintances who have.

Jacob, Elisha, Daniel and John saw angels, they were not thier guardian angels but they were angels.

Viro, with all the threads you have been asking about this today, can I ask you why you are asking? Is there something happening in your life, that you want God to show you?

Just asking, no offense intended!!:):

2 Kings 6
16 "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD , open his eyes so he may see." Then the LORD opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Hebrews 1:14
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

I replied to your other thread, but I wonder if children can see them. When my daughter was 3, she fell off a water tank that I told her time and again not to climb on. I heard her shriek and ran out to get her - she was hanging there by her pant leg. She said, "It's okay, Mommy, Kevin saved me." I asked her who Kevin was (no one was around) and she said he was an angel. At other times she would say that Kevin told her stories about Heaven. One time on a whim I asked her where Kevin was and she said he was in Heaven resting. I don't know if it was just her imagination or if she really recognized that an angel was there. She never mentioned him after the age of 3.

BTW, is there a scripture that says that we each have a guardian angel?

Edit to add: I asked DD if she could see Kevin and she nodded but never elaborated.

Angels are all around us, as shown in the scripture passages that Lonewolf7 posted (above). But they're obviously in human form so that we don't realize who they are.

From other passages, it seems that angels are (in their actual form) pretty scary looking if we're looking through our earthly eyes. I guess when we're in heaven and we see angels as they actually are, we won't be frightened of their appearance.

When Galeed was preschool age, she saw angels constantly - but the thing was, as she put it, "They weren't good angels." This was at a time when I was still married to her dad, and he was involved in some occult practices, unbeknownst to Galeed - and only somewhat known to me at the time.

She's eighteen now, but still sees "people." We only refer to them in a very general sense as spirits, because we know from scripture that they can't be ghosts (impossible, scripturally), and so they must either be angelic spirits or demonic/evil spirits. What's scary is that they look like ordinary people.

For a long time, I worried that they might be in her mind, and I even had her checked. But I always knew she was seeing something real, because I experienced the same thing when I hit about thirteen years old or fourteen years old. Later, I stopped seeing things like that and instead started knowing about things without any reason, and without any desire. Same thing happened to Galeed.

Then about two years ago, Galeed had an experience of "seeing someone who isn't there" <g> - and something very odd happened:

In the evening sometime after sunset, we drove to a local bank so I could use the ATM before going out to dinner. I was nervous about being two females at a lonely bank parking lot, so I gave Galeed my usual speech: "Stay here in the car, and lock the doors. If you see ANYONE, even if you're unsure about their intentions but you just sense something wrong, or if ANYONE approaches me, LAY ON THE HORN." Then I got out of the car and headed for the ATM.

At this point, Galeed was just watching me walk to the machine, and watching me stand there doing the transaction. And, of course, from my perspective I was involved in an ordinary transaction, just paying attention to how much money I needed to get out. My back was to the car, so I didn't see the car or anything, although I was illuminated by the headlights. Galeed had a front row view.

Suddenly - and this was all within a minute's time probably - Galeed saw a man in ordinary street clothes and a cap who looked odd to her - like he could possibly be a criminal, but something about him made her think he was some kind of government employee, or law enforcement - but not "on the up and up." Something wasn't right. He didn't use the sidewalk - instead, he approached from the side of the building and walked (more like ran!) through the rocks where the landscaping was, heading for the ATM machine - and me. He was moving through an area where there were a few scattered shrubs and desert plants (we're in AZ), and one plant was a very tall with long leaves (I can't remember the name of the plant right now, but this particular plant is important to the story).

As I said, this happened *fast* - and for a second Galeed wanted to hit the horn to warn me, but something told her that this was just another incident involving her seeing someone who wasn't really *real.* That was the only thing that kept her from making the decision to hit the horn immediately, but she was still thinking about doing it - when all of a sudden, something unusual happened.

As the man moved through the rocks past the tall plant, he ran past the long leaves and basically is body "grazed" the plant so that it made a very large movement - and then Galeed watched *me* because, *I reacted to the noise.* I suddenly turned around and looked *straight at the place where the man was* (but of course, I didn't see a thing. I was reacting because I thought I heard someone running up behind me loudly, as if over rocks, and when I turned around I saw the plant moving wildly), and then not seeing anyone there, I turned back to the ATM machine again. Galeed watched as the man walked onto the sidewalk (this is all illuminated by both the lights over the ATM area and our car's headlights!) - and then he walked directly behind me as if to watch what I was doing at the ATM.

This completely freaked Galeed out, because then I did something that I *never* do. Ordinarily, even if I'm alone at an ATM, or even if I'm alone at the grocery store and I'm doing a debit transaction, I use my body and one of my hands to shield what I'm doing - basically to keep my info private. I *always* do this. Well, with the "invisible man" behind me at the ATM, for some reason I didn't shield anything at all - and actually stood in such a way to leave room for him to watch the whole thing. Galeed at this point realizes that she's the only one who can see him, and is wondering if he "did something" to make me change my usual ATM habit this time so he could watch the transaction. I finished what I was doing very quickly (because I was nervous about what I heard over in the landscaped area, although I didn't see anything wrong)... and as I turned back to face the car again, the man sort of "blinked out" and was gone.

As I walked toward the car, I was glancing over toward the rocks nervously and wishing I could get there faster (because of my health situation, my legs wouldn't go faster) - and of course, Galeed was excited beyond belief, realizing that for the first time, someone had at least experienced *something* during an incident she was seeing. I opened the car door, and as I sat down, I started to tell her what I heard, but I didn't get a chance....

Galeed immediately started talking a mile a minute, telling me she was so glad she wasn't out of her mind after all, and she told me what she had seen. I kept asking why she didn't lay on the horn, because how could she know the man was "different" for sure? She said my reactions said it all, because obviously I heard but didn't *see.* I told her about hearing a noise that sounded like someone running over rocks and that I saw the plant moving (no wind), and that completely stunned her. Since then, she has been very glad to finally have that "little worry" over!

In that particular case, we have no idea what it may have been, but it was *someone.* It doesn't seem like something a spiritual being, whether good or evil, would bother doing... but it's hard to imagine what it was, and why it was there.

Hebrews 13:2 states:
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."

I believe that the key phrase here is "without knowing it."

I would be wary about seeing a vision of a spiritual personality. The bible says that the devil masquerades as an angel of light, thus, I would not be able to verify the origin of such a vision.
