I was watching JVI on TBN tonight and just wondered what the general opinion is on him. He seemed to back everything he said up with scripture but his wife/cohost was tad annoying to me, a bit condensending(SP?) she seemed but maybe I took it wrong. What's your thoughts on him?

IMO, he's on the kooky side, as he has apparently departed from sound doctines. RR has some great articles on him and some of the things he has said on their main page. Here's the link. Scroll down, his name is on the bottom:

many of his opinions on the end times I agree with but some other things..you really have to watch it..he says crazy things...know your bible so you can spot what isnt of God...better yet..i quit watching his show...so I'm never lead astray

when I heard something off the wall he said..i e-mail him and tell him what the bible says

I wouldnt suggest using him as a witness tool to unbelivers, He is a real turn off. I did a number of years ago and the guy I gave the JVI video to said that he couldnt stand to watch him or his wife and that they seemed a little looney. LOL! I was offended at the time, but now I have to say that I agree with him.

We used to watch his shows, buy his tapes and support his ministry.

I loved watching his show and reading the newsletter he would send out.

Then I started noticing small changes, like kissing up to the Pope, and slowly bringing in more and more of the Catholic stuff.

Then he started bringing in the Islamic stuff as well.

I havent watched him since. :(:

Lately he has been quoting Nostrdamus [a phsycic] and claiming that he was a great Bible student

Sometimes he take Scripture out of context. It is hard to tell because he rattles it off so fast.

Van Impe is a mouthpiece for Islamic groups who claim Islam is peaceful and is also a mouthpiece for the Vatican (so to speak) aviod him at all costs

Far too frequently he is guilty of "newspaper exegesis." This is taking something in the news and trying to fit it into Scripture...to show some sort of fulfilled prophecy or whatnot. Unfortunately, I believe this is rather sloppy exegesis. We need to first go to Scripture...then see whether or not something in the headlines may be a fulfillment. Van Impe all too often races to conclusions that are unwarranted, and in the long run make him appear as a doomsday sayer.

Yes, RR has some articles on his lack of consistent doctrine. I saw him at a church a couple years back (I'm originally from Michigan...and Van Impe works out of a very rich and plush suburb of Detroit--Troy, MI). It was one of the lightest and most lacking services I'd ever attended. He spent quite a long time talking about how fast it took angels to go from Heaven to Earth, using Scripture to back him up. It was most peculiar.

Godspeed,
Matthew

I love the man. I just don't like some things he says regarding Islam, and Catholicsm. He's good for a laugh.

Jack was once very good. Sound doctrine, Biblical... but that has changed. He is the classic example of a man who has compromised sound doctrine for supposed unity with false teachers (Rome & and every TV evangelist out there no matter their doctrine).

There is a reason Paul said to mark and AVOID those who teach a different doctrine. Jack Van Impe is the poster child for what can happen when we don't obey God's Word, and try to join hands with deceivers.

I don't watch him anymore ~ for the very reasons that've already been brought up.

He acts like ecumenism is a *good thing* ~ GO FIGURE!! :doh

A prophecy *guru* ought to know better.
