Today the talking heads were disecting "The Passion, but the full name they give it is "The Passion of the Christ", no mention of Jesus...

Thought it was kinda weird. Maybe some people out there have a hard time saying "Jesus"?

I don't, I love that name! :clap

the Christ I think is the divisive name....

Jesus was his given name (what all his friends and family called him)....it was the fact that he was the Christ that sends everyone is a tailspin:):

at least that is how I always thought about it....so I have not thought anything about the fact that Jesus is not in the title...but it is something to think about

Here's something to think about:

Christ occurs 555 times in 522 verses:

Christ = "anointed"

1) Christ was the Messiah, the Son of God
2) anointed

Jesus occurs 983 times in 942 verses:

Jesus = "Jehovah is salvation"

1) Jesus, the Son of God, the Saviour of mankind, God incarnate

2) Jesus Barabbas was the captive robber whom the Jews begged Pilate to release instead of Christ

3) Joshua was the famous captain of the Israelites, Moses' successor (Ac. 7:45, Heb. 4:8)

4) Jesus, son of Eliezer, one of the ancestors of Christ (Lu. 3:29)

5) Jesus, surnamed Justus, a Jewish Christian, an associate with Paul in the preaching of the gospel (Col. 4:11)

Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Matthew 16:16 (NKJV)

I agree with Gibson in choosing 'Christ'...
'Christ' sums up Who Jesus is and What Jesus represents...
'Jesus' is a given name, and not the original language name at that...
the name Jesus, while significant in meaning to Christians, still does not have the inherent meaning that the word 'Christ' connotes...

...well, why not the "Passion of Jesus Christ"?

Thanks for your replies. I still wish it said His name. Christ is a title, and His name is more personal...
