View Full Version : A Common Bond: Jesus Christ

Why are there so many different Christian religions today?
How can we all unite in a common bond?
Here's my opinion. I'd like to hear your opinions too about this matter if you don't mind.
I think it boils down to two factors.
First, the reason for the many differing religions could be blamed on the various interpretations of the bible. Right? But if the Holy Spirit is within us to guide us in our comprehension of the bible, shouldn't we all have the same interpretations?
I remember having a conversation with a fellow born-again Christian and coworker about this very question. His explanation was his experience from being born-again, cemented his belief in the bible. I would have to say this was true with me. After being born-again, he feverishly studied the bible for the following four years. Now, he has slowed down or in a state of stagnation.
So, the born-again experience is a reason why a believer cements his beliefs to a particular religion. Make sense?
Second, I noticed that all Christian sects have one common bond. JESUS CHRIST! All Christian sects believe he was the Son of G-d and died for our sins. Right?
Mormons believe in Jesus.
Baptists believe in Jesus.
Pentecostals believe in Jesus.
Word of Faith believe in Jesus.
Jehovah's Witness believe in Jesus.
Catholics believe in Jesus.
Protestants believe in Jesus.
Calvinists believe in Jesus.
Mennonites believe in Jesus
Anglicans believe in Jesus...and many more I still do not know.
Here's my conclusion:
If our born-again experiences are similar, by confessing our faith in Jesus Christ vocally and with sincereful hearts, why can't we all unite in the name of Jesus Christ INSTEAD of uniting under the banner of all the differing Christian sects?
Again, if all Christian sects were to eliminate the religion aspect and accept Jesus, we would all live in harmony as Jesus had intended. All Christians could unite under one banner, JESUS CHRIST. In fact, if Islam and Judaism were to eliminate their religions for the sake of Jesus, we would have the world under one banner. Praise Jesus Christ!

Well you see you got yer good doctrine and then you got yer bad doctrine...
Where does all the bad doctrine come from?... I'm pretty sure it isn't from heaven....
The enemy of man's soul, even with certain defeat in sight, takes a delight in stirring derision among the Christian Camp.
I hit upon a website once and the fellow who runs the website collects "bad doctrine" like you or I might collect stamps. He categorized it. Graded it. Attributed it to different era. His web-page linked to the website pages of the bad doctrine's origin. And it isn't until you see the great mass of bad doctrine, all in one great big pile that you can understand the scope of the problem.
The bad doctrine with the greatest growth and most prevalence today is feel-good-ism. Trusting in experiential evidence instead of Scripture. Me centric instead of God centric.
Where is it's power base?... pride....

You didn't see it?
Jesus Christ is the power base. I see you're point and yes, bad or good doctrine, who cares.
Whynot see past the doctrines and follow Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is the answer!

I may be misunderstanding you, but I don't believe that all the sects you listed above believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the only road to heaven. I know that Mormans and JW at least don't believe this.
I think there's a big difference in believing in Jesus and professing him as Lord and Savior and our only way to heaven.

Mormons preach another gospel. They bleieve Jesus is a created being and that He is the Spirit brother of Satan, the one with the bad salvation plan.
Jehovah's Witnesses preach a whoooollllleeeeee other goespel.
Both fall under control type cults.

How important is good doctrine? Well as it turns out very important. Paul said:
Rom 16:17-19
(17) Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.
(18) For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
(19) For the report of your obedience has reached to all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.
And Paul added:
Phi 3:17-19
(17) Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.
(18) For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ,
(19) whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.
If the doctrine was not patterned after Paul, who was the Apostle to the Gentiles in this Dispensation of Grace, it is not to be followed.

Wow... you really have no understanding of these religions you've listed.
Who teaches another doctrine (or Jesus?) on your list? Let's see:
Mormons... they believe Jesus achieved His diety.
Word Of Faith... they believe Jesus is Santa Claus.
Jehovah's Witnesses... they believe Jesus is not God, but a god.
Catholics... they believe Jesus is the Son of God, but they do not see Him as our Advocate alone... they believe Mary and the "saints" are too... which makes Jesus death on the cross meaningless.
Anglicans... they tend to be Catholic Light... not all, but most. (With Anglicans we need to take each individual by their own merit... I know some who truly are believers. But the church world-wide tends to be a hold over from the Catholic Church.)
Paul warned us to mark and avoid those who teach doctrines contrary to that which we have received from the apostles (i.e. the NT). Given that command, we should have nothing to do with those sects.
Thats not to say we cant be friends with those folks, but we can not have Christian fellowship w/them... it's impossible.
Baptists, Pentecostals, Protestants, Calvinists and Mennonites do believer basically the same crucial doctrines, and I do agree they can find common ground.

Do I see shades of a one world religion emerging?
We should weep at the deception in our "christian" churches.
Websites like RR are one of the means of reaching and teaching.
I wish I could remember which member said"We post for the lurkers, we pray for the posters". It is so apt.
