I am just curious about something. If someone has Alzheimers and their mind doesn't function anymore, how can there be any communication with the Holy Spirit(if they are saved that is)?
What happens at death? Since the braincells slowly are dying what about the mind and spiritual aspect?
I can not seem to find any answers on this. Any thoughts?

As long as a person's breathing -- they have their soul in their body.
I had a great grandmother with Alzheimer's.. and my granny's brother in law has Alzheimer's.
My Great grandmother couldn't talk to us in the end-- but she knew who we all were (all us great grandkids and grandkids).. and she kept calling us her babies. "Baby, Baby"-- every time she saw us..
I guess it's just one of those things that we will have to ask G-d when we get to heaven.

My MIL, who has been a Christian all her life, has Alzheimer's disease. It comforts me to read Psalm 103:14 (For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust). Remember is Strong's #2142, to mark so as to be recognized.
Also Psalm 103:17 (But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him...
My MIL's mind is basically gone. But I know that the Lord still "remembers" her even though she is not capable of remembering anything. I'm sure that His everlasting mercy remains on her and other believers who have lost their mental faculties because of strokes and other diseases.

Thank you so much for your responses.
When I start thinking about these issues my mind just starts going around in circles.
My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's years ago and is progressivly getting worse. My mom is the only one taking care of him, what makes it worse is that they live in Europe and I am here, too far away to help. I pray for them every night.
Thank you so much for your thoughts, that helps.
