Opened my Bible at random and it came to these verses, which made me think...................

James 5:19-20 (NASB)

My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that one who turns a sinner from the error of his ways will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

"If any among you strays from the truth".................how could one among you stray from the truth if they are not a Christian who knows the truth?? So this says if a Christian strays from the truth (ie: goes to a life of sin).

Then for the next line:

If a Christian cannot lose his salvation, then how can the one who turns him from the error his ways............."save his soul from death and cover a multitude of sins"?

If he is OSAS, then his souls does not need to be saved from death and his multitude of sins do not need to be covered because he is not in danger of his soul going to death (ie: hell) and his sins would already be covered.

Therefore, how can you believe what James is saying in James 5:19-20 and still claim that OSAS is correct??

I was raised in church. Went everytime the doors were open, and knew the truth for years before excepting Christ as my personal Saviour at the age of 12yrs old. Do you not think that someone can know the truth, but not make that all important choice?

Kind of like in the Left Behind Series, (and I am sure today also), Bruce was a pastor, he preached the truth everyday, but had not made that commentment to Jesus till after the rapture. I realize the books are fictional, but so many truths are told in them. I like the books better then the movies, but the movie showed it so well went Bruce stood at the pulpit and cryed out to Jesus. He was saying I stood right here a preached it everyweek, I was good I led many to you, but I am still here. I am still here because it was all an act, they are gone and I am here.

Love in Christ,

and as to the second part-

I read the verse as the "strayer" being the one whose "soul is saved from death" - just a matter of positioning - or "juxtapositioning?

I think it's talking about physical death, and protecting that person from the path of evil they were trying to walk down.

I've known people that have turned away, yet you KNEW in your spirit they were believers.. and G-d took them out.

P.s. I have a friend like that right now, that I'm worried about, because she doesn't want to be reached-- and is "so happy" where she is right now.. I pray that nothing tragic happens to her.. but SOMETHING has to happen to bring her back..

Why don't you start at the beginning first.

You should be asking ...'How is a person really saved'

and.....'What is it that makes the saved person Not spiritually dead'.

Perhaps you would reach epiphany .....and see that...that which makes the saved person not spiritually dead...is also the gift of eternal life.

Once you identify specifically 'what' that gift really is.....you would seek out every single verse in scripture and then understand salvation....inside out.
