Gods word is so good you can read a scripture, and get something out of it. Then later you can read it again, and see something more. I found this out tonight.
2 Cor. 9:6-7
6. But this I say, He who soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he who soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudglingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver.
I have read this scripture many times, and even had it underlined in my bible. Tonight tho when I read it for the first time I saw the words or of necessity.
Alot of the teacher/preachers of today use this scripture to get money, but I have never heard them say the part about not to give out of necessity.
You hear quoted so much how God loves a cheerful giver, and don't give grudglingly, but I have never hear anyone mention not to give out of of necessity.
As I said above the Lord is go good. Each day is another day of growing in knowledge and wisdom.

You’re correct!
Tithing was a command on Israel ( not anyone else) under the old covenant. It was part of the Law. It was of necessity in part for His relationship, with His chosen nation, Israel.
Today you’re free from the Law and for the first time Gentiles, are part of a (New) Covenant. Give what you feel lead to give. Cheerfully!

It doesn't have to be 10%. Whatever you and God feel comfortable with, giving cheerfully, not grudgingly.

Wow that was the word that popped out at me when I just read that scripture. That is quite an eye opener. You are right in that the preachers/teachers on T.V. do not mention that we are not to give out of necessity. In fact they teach the exact opposite. They teach to give out of your need. In fact they teach that is the best way to get your harvest. I have heard them many times, especially during a telethon preach on giving out of our lack. They say to pledge $2000 but if you don't have it then at least give the tithe, or part of the tithe.
I have many scriptures that are underlined in my Bible that I got from the wof teachers. I have been going through them and really reading them and seeing what they really mean. There are so many that mean something different then I had been taught to believe.

This is a scripture that I underlined, well probably back when I was a kid or young adult. Back when I was being raised in a good bible based Baptist church. If I get a new bible I go though my old one and transfer all the scriptures that I have underlined through my life.
I reread them as I go, but can not remember reading the part about not giving out of necessity. Again I say how neat it is that everytime you read His word something new comes out of it, if done with prayer.
I have never been a wof, and am not now. Not even sure there are any scriptures that I have underlined since watching some of the tv teacher/preachers.
I don't normally watch Kenneth Copeland, I just have not felt good about him everytime his show comes on, so normally change to another station. Watch Charles Stanley or something, then go back to the station he is on to watch James Robison and Life Today, but last night I was talking to my son and reading the bible when his show came on so didn't change it. There was a lady speaking on there last night with his wife don't know her name because I wasn't paying attention. Well I wasn't paying attention till she said that when we do or are getting ready to do something wrong we are convicted of it. NOT by the Holy Spirit, but by our spirit. The Holy Spirit doesn't do stuff like that, and we need to get it through our head about that, it is our spirit, it is us. My son had to laugh as I start talking to the tv, asking for scripture, and asking her what kind of stupid lies she was spreading. She also said she was at a football game and there was a bad call and she called the ref. some name, which she claims she never does, she said she was immediately convicted of it so she quickly (now I bet you think she is going to say ask forgiveness, NOPE) yell three more times whatever she had yelled before. Then she ask for forgiveness. I know this sounds like judging, but I am going to say it anyway. The first time lets say it slipped that can happen, but when convicted of it to immediately yell it 3 more times, then ask for forgiveness, why do I not think it came from the heart?
Sorry for rambling, this has just bothered me all night.

I stopped watching Kenneth Copeland back in August so I'm not sure if the woman you saw on with Goria is who I am think she is. If she is a woman in her late 50's and has dark hair its probably Billy Brim. Gloria and Billy do alot of shows together. Billy was taught directly under Kenneth Hagin and work for him at the Rhema Bible School.
I agree that her saying that the we do the convicting and not The Holy Spirit is disturbing and down right wrong since it goes against scripture. That's the problem with wof, you have to listen very closely to exactly what they are saying and have your Bible in hand.

As I said Teresa, I don't normally watch his show, because from day one have felt lead not to. I almost wish I had been paying attention, but doesn't matter, her statement just screamed at me. I was even talking at the time, and still heard it. So I quickly shut-up to hear what else she was saying. Made me know why I have never felt right watching the show, and yes I think she mentioned Hagin many times so it probably was that Billy person you mentioned.
I wanted to listen to be sure I heard her right, and she was nice enough to repeat it. I know we are in the end-times, and these things are told to be going to happen, but for her to laugh as she was saying I am a preacher and I did so and so and was convicted so did it 3 times more was just so scary, sad, and down right, well you know what I mean.
Don't get me wrong we all sin, but to say I knew I was so I did it 3 more times is just terrible. Then taking the credit for her own convictions, and throwing the Holy Spirit out of the picture on it just puts the icing on the cake.
Love in Christ,
Kathy

Ephesians 2
One in Christ
11Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.
14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

Very true. I feel that one of my main spirtual gifts is giving. I give alot into ministries. I believe it's important for many of us with in the body of christ to help christ minded kingdoms.
I don't give to reap back money. I give to be a blessing.
I truely believe that my money belongs to my father. Even when money has been short, I've asked my father in heaven to bless me, too help me out so I can be a blessing to someone else.
And I'am alot happier that I can serve my lord in this way. The problem is so many of us are stuck in the worlds finance system, I wanted out into Gods, system.
We can't take money to heaven only souls. Luckily I live with parents, so I have more money to myself, therefore more money for God's kingdom.
