What I think you are refering to is when God spared Nineveh, from judgement because they repented.

This can be taken in the same way that we are saved from judgement, if we repent from our sins.

So the answer is still No prophecy has failed.

Part of Jonah's dissapointment was that Ninevah was the capital of Assyria, which was a horrible nation. When they took over a city or nation, they would do terrible things to torture the people. Things I can't print here. Jonah really wanted to see them get what was coming to them. But they repented and their lives were spared. And Jonah was very upset.

It's easy for us to get pious and say how wrong that attitude was. But what if Saddam repents and God lets him live. A lot of us would have a really hard time with that. Especially those who know are related to someone who died as a result of this man's actions. But God forgives even the greatest sinner who repents. And He has said repeatedly in prophecy that if the people repent, then the things he said would happen wouldn't happen.

Thakyou GloryBound.

There IS no failed prophecy in the Bible. God ensures His revealed Word remains true, not man. Thats why there is NO excuse for a failed prophecy today.

A failed prophet is never ever from God.

A failed prophet is never ever from God.

It only takes one failure to make a false prophet.

There are no false prophecies in the Bible.

If there was even one false one then all would be false.

Just an aside...you're welcome to print anything from the Bible here at RR. I doubt you'll find any offended by the Word.

We are warned that false prophets will come. And also .. . not meaning to be critical but just stating facts ... there are failed prophecies in the Koran. And amongst JW predictions. I don't know abou the book of Mormon but it's so "out there" that it probably qualifies, too.

Here's some info on the Koran from "Answering Islam."

Crescendo, I quote from the Bible all the time.

What the Assyrians did was proven from the archeological evidence. There is a very good video series called "That the World May Know" that tells of some of the things they did. The reason I won't print it here is because children read this board. And a few adults with weak stomachs. The archeologists claim that they were the all time worst torturers ever. That's why I won't print what they did. I'm not one of those who enjoy shocking people and making them sick.

Glory, you're quite correct.
Between the Babylonians (Persians) and the Assyrians.. there was some really brutal torture and execution methods that have only been "recently" Used (think Vlad 'Dracula' the impaler)..

If we went into it, it wouldn't be good. Suffice to say, much of this information is now on the internet and checking www.alltheweb.com and www.google.com or www.about.com would give you much of the information.
