The church today many times seems to be little different then the world. Our lives have all the same problems and failures as does the world. I believe that this is because we seldom hear truth as God intended it and that needs to be in clear honest preaching. The following is a series in audio about dating, marriage and raising Godly children. It will be a shock to many since this type of preaching is seldom found today as well as the fact that the church has accepted the worlds way to live. Each one will have to decide for themselves the benifit of this, but what is certain is that what is being done today is not working very well, and that can be seen by the divorce rate in the church. This is an 8 part series and somewhat long, but if we will listen a little at a time I think that we will benefit from this wisdom. They really need to be listened to in order or else the flow and understanding will not be understood.

The first link is the site where the pastor is at. The next links are audio files that will automatically load into real player and play.

...ad infinitum, ad nauseum...
We are the church, therefor, if this is true, it is our fault. So much talk of the church is done as if it were some third party entity responsible for our spiritual maturity, or lack thereof.

At the risk of being lukewarm and worldly... I do not have the time to listen for 1 hour and 22 minutes to find out the seven biblical truths violated by dating. What are they?

I don't know if i believe in having parents choosing the mate of the child.
BUT, I do believe in BIBLICAL Courtship..
If it were not for my family talking with my fiance, or maybe my dad joking that i'd marry him (I didn't even know who he was).
I have only been out with one other person and that was a long time ago.
I don't believe in dating just for the sake of dating.. and I don't believe in "dating" or "courting" (or watever you call it) anyone unless you can honestly see yourself living with them for the rest of your life.
I am however, currently studying Hebraic/Biblical wedding customs and let's just say, it's very enlightening. ;):

... even further risk of jumping the proverbial gun...
I do not know of any biblical passages that prescribe a biblical method of courtship, or say anything about dating for that matter.
Not that I am defending our cultural dating customs, but they are just that - cultural customs.
There are plenty of historical examples that describe how the Hebrew cultural may have done various things along this line. But it is a dangerous hermeneutic to say something is violating a biblical truth if we are not doing it the same way they did.

I haven't listened for lack of time and the fact i'm not at home.

Well, there's enough in there about Isaac and Rivkah, Jacob and Rebecca and the Shullamite for us to get an idea.
I'm still working on my study, but the bride was able to choose who she married.. and she was able to get to know the guy, and was considered married to him as soon as the betrothal ceremony was finished-- though a year later there was an actual marriage ceremony.
This same "idea" Is carried over with Messiah and us. We have the betrothal where we drink the glass of wine/grape juice to commence the engagement-- and later will be the wedding ceremony.

I don't know.... I don't have time/lack of caring to the extent of 1.5 hours on this topic. Would you please post a summary of the points?
Well.. Well I think most people (christians) meet around here by youth groups or within the church, within single groups. So I guess that isn't so bad.
(I have never been on a date :tsk so this is not experience)

Messianic types aside, my point was simply to say the text mays tell us how God dealt with that culture, but that does not mean it is a prescription for our own.
case studies are good, may be very helpful, but are not necessarily a biblical mandate for our culture.
