View Full Version : Christians confronting prejudice

Everyday, my husband and I eat lunch at the local senior center.
Given we're both new to retirement and new to the senior center, we're still getting to know everyone.

We've got a "character" who sits at the table with us who is very loud and boisterous. He made a comment last week about my ethnicity and I confronted him. The previous week he made no bones about the fact that he didn't like blacks. However, he used the "N" word.

I found it totally offensive, so when he made a comment about my ethnicity I felt compelled to say that was "ugly".

Today, he found it necessary to be a "wise guy" again. My husband was simmering and has thus far not said anything.

Given we are Christians, as most of us are at the Center, I don't want to make waves, but feel the need to set a boundary. Any comments on this "ugly" situation?

*whew* ~ I am not sure. No words of great wisdom here.

What a JERK!!

Girl, I'll definitely be in prayer.

If he insists on making such rude comments -- why would he come back to your table day after day!?? :confused

Reva..., something so simple just popped into my head. When you stated..., why would he come back to your table day after day

I'm going to sit at another table. That ought to shut him up.

Thanks!

Sometimes your best witness is showing grace and love in the face of adversity. I know, easier said than done. Just something to chew on. :D:
