I had surgery to remove my ovaries a few months ago and have been on HRT since then. I'm on the Climara patch if thats relevant.
I've noticed my skin has become quite oily and tends to break out. While I used to have oily skin its been normal for the last few years as I've grown older.
Until now, that is. Its been especially bad this past month.
Do you all think this could be the HRT? It (and the surgery) are the only thing thats changed in my life recently.

it's more likely to be the surgery than the HRT. estrogen protects your skin from being quite as oily.
try to find the clean & clear products with salicylic acid, rather than benzoyl peroxide (like oxy, etc). it's easier on the skin, and more effective for many people. a good oil free moisturizer will help, and keep your hands and hair away from your face as much as possible. if your back breaks out, find the clean & clear body wash, or use noxema cream on it.
hope this helps.
oh, and if you like aveeno products, they've just come out with a clear complexion lotion that's awesome.

Slyvia, you mean the surgery I had 3 months ago could cause this? Wow.
Thats good to know about estrogen though. I'm not liking this oiliness at all. And thanks for the cleanser info. :):

I have to agree also. I had a hystorectomy last year in which they removed only one of my ovaries, I still have the other one. My skin is now worse than when I was a teenager! Just plain out greasy :puke I went to the doctor about it and she put me on Retin-A and benzaclyn (sp?)

One of the side-effects of hormone therapy is that it can cause acne sometimes.:(:

I don't use any HRT's. I take soy. I have the Shaklee soy powder, drink soy milk, eat tofu, soy yogurt, etc.
My skin is clear and I don't have any hot flashes, night sweats or anything anymore.
I used to use www.revivalsoy.com
While it is a good alternative to HRT, I wanted to stay away from sugars. So I switched to the Shaklee powder.
