View Full Version : Do you believe God works miracles

Pretty simple question.

Do you believe that the Lord works miracles, even if those miracles go against all "known" wisdom of the medical field?

Isnt that what a miracle usually is? When God reaches down and does something that totally defies what "should" happen?

Curious what others thought about this subject.

I most certainly do believe that God is a miracle worker!! Especially those that go against all known wisdom and logic :thumb

He is the same yesterday, today and forever - He changes not!

Thank you Lord!

Yes Yes Yes. and Yes.

.. also do not rule out human means for the carriage of God's miracles. God has placed in man's hands many modern tools which if used in the context of His will are no less a miracle of God's.

I live to day and thank God for a miracle called insulin. It must be God's will that I live or I would be dead as can be, without any doubt. I would prefer to be healed completely but that doesn't seem to be His will. The rigour of the condition has given me a contemplative spirit and as such to me is quite a blessing. Is it a miracle?... yes... His will be done.

Yes indeed, I believe God can use doctors and nurses and sometimes even "regular" folks for miracles.

I was just wondering how many believed He was still in the miracle business.

I'm glad to see there are still some of us out there! :thumb

Oh yes there are miracles. I've seen God do a few in my life. (I must be quite clumsy! :laugh )

Never doubt His ability to work miracles today. Don't put limits on Him.

Hey-has anyone ever heard a story about an evangelist named wigglesworth--or something like that?

Supposedly, at a service someones hand grew back that had been amputated or something--??? Just curious if anyone had ever heard that story?

I had a tumor growing in my head several years ago....I had 3 MRI's that showed it (it was on the pituitary gland)..one Wednesday during Bible study group they prayed for me while I was having another MRI...a week later when I went for the results, the tumor could not be found.....does that answer your question:D:

I believe God performs miracles both great and small. When you hear a story like bondservant's I believe divine intervention must have played a role. And stories like that are not uncommon. I also believe in the common miracles, proof of glory of His creation, something as simple as a sparkle on the ocean.
"In the beginning the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness."
Genesis 1:1-3 KJV

It may sound silly but I'm moved to give thanks when I see the sunset in beautiful colors or a sky so blue nothing can recreate the feeling of standing beneath it.

Footnote: I hope I haven't committed a newbie Faux Pax by bumping this thread. I've read a lot of threads but I did want to reply to this one.

As a nurse, I have witnessed God's miraculous healing powers on the front lines!:thumb

So, YES! He is still very attentive to our needs!

God is the same today as yesterday and so tomorrow too.:thumb

Actually, something my mother always used to tell me, That they are not 'miracles', it is just "Gods" work, those with belief and faith in the knowing of God and His love and mercy, understand.

We (as man) feel like it is a 'miracle'.

Miracle:def: An event that is unexplainable by the laws of nature.

To me, it is not something that is unexplainable, it is the works of God. Yes it is 'awesome and amazing' what God does! But a miracle is something unexplainable.:angel

Am I making any sense?:confused

For the last 5 years I've been driving 200 miles regularly for treatment due to Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. It's a progressive, eventually fatal disorder affecting the bile duct. I've become progressively sick to the point in which I could no longer work.

That all changed about 8 months ago when I attended a new church and they prayed for my health, literally laying hands on me. (Something I was very unaccostumed to, yet open-minded about)

I'm 100% well now.
I've stopped taking my medicines (18 pills a day), and the last 3 blood tests showed my enzymes at totally normal levels. When asked if it's possible for a patient with PSC to go into remission, my gastroenterologist replied, "I've never seen it before," and got a rather curious look on his face.

Yeah, I believe in miracles.

I truly beleive that God has plans for me. Couldn't begin to wonder what they are but....when I was 14 I was hit by a car and went into shock and had amnesia for 2 weeks. The lawyer my dad got, very cynical guy too, told me that in all honesty, I should be dead! Said it was a miracle I lived. Then I was in a crash, not wearing a seat belt, going bout 40 and hit practically head on this kid that turned in front of me. Granted I had a cervical strain that has never fully healed but that was it. Then when I was a teenager and into drugs I put myself into some perilous situations and pulled through. Last but not least, my father had glaucoma and didn't catch it in time so had to have an operation but during one of his checkups the doctor was floored that he had actually gained back some vision in the one eye. Enough that he said this just "doesn't happen" and asked my dad if he was a Christian. I know he performs "miracles" I just don't know his reasons for the ones he does perform and those things he just lets happen. :confused

I'm here, Katy. Let me "kill" this one (since I am so good at doing it). Mine isn't medical, but here goes:

I was driving home one evening, and was going to stop by a little store just off the interstate to buy a drink. I go past the store like clockwork at 5:00 pm straight up on my way home. Just before I got to the exit of the interstate, a shower came up out of nowhere, just pouring down raining. So, I decided to go up one exit and get the drink at a store that had an awning over the entrance (so I wouldn't get wet). As soon as I passed through the first exit, the rain stopped and the sky cleared. I shrugged it off as one of those typical evening showers, and continued on my way.

I got home, settled in, and turned on the news, only to see that the little store I was going to stop at had been robbed, and the owner (a sweet lady with a teenage daughter) had been shot in the back of the head while face down on the floor. A neighbor (next to the store) remembered two men pulling into her driveway about five minutes before 5:00, and then pulling into the store parking lot when it cleared. As the press was interviewing her, she said that a few minutes after 5, she heard them leaving quickly.

Later, these monsters were apprehended, but not before going on a killing spree over three states. At the time, I was really shaken when I realized how close I came to dying a horrible death. These men didn't leave witnesses anywhere they went. DH says that God wasn't through with me yet when this happened, and I guess I have to agree with him. I just know that He saved my life.

PS: Let me clarify, I don't WANT to kill this one, I'm just good at it!!:D:

Just so WalkByFaith doesn't think she killed this thread.........:):

I'm a big believer in miracles. A few years ago I was home from the hospital after having surgery. I kept getting more and more crazy feeling and depressed. My hubby called my parents over he was so frightened by the way I was acting. They all 3 laid hands on me, praying for healing of whatever was going on. In a little while I was back to normal.

Before this I believed in miracles in my head but not my heart. Now I have a heart knowledge. :):

Yes,I know He can still do miracles. Problem is,it seems like 99.9% of the time,He doesn't. I know WAY too many folks who were not healed and died of cancer, way too many. And I know of ONE...ONE person that was healed of cancer. And that happened over 50 years ago! I don't have the answer to this. It does make praying for folks who need healing MUCH more difficult to believe, that is for sure...in my case, anyway. My mom died of cancer, had hands laid on,elders prayed over, annointed with oil,etc etc etc. to no avail. A close Christian friend, same thing. A guy at work, same thing. My moms friend, same thing. on and on and on....makes it hard to believe,ya know?
