The Flood

Hey,
I'm just confused, why did God flood the world? I heard two differnt things, one that the fallen angels slept with the earthly women and then they produced some kind of new race something like a nephillim or whatever it was called, and the other that the earth was too evil, so God destroyed it with a flood, which one is true? I'm just curious that is all.

Both are true.

It's in Genesis. Start reading in Genesis 3 and work your way to the Flood story.

4In those days, and even afterward, giants[1] lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with human women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes mentioned in legends of old.
5Now the LORD observed the extent of the people's wickedness, and he saw that all their thoughts were consistently and totally evil. 6So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them. It broke his heart. 7And the LORD said, "I will completely wipe out this human race that I have created. Yes, and I will destroy all the animals and birds, too. 9This is the history of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless man living on earth at the time. He consistently followed God's will and enjoyed a close relationship with him. 10Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11Now the earth had become corrupt in God's sight, and it was filled with violence. 12God observed all this corruption in the world, and he saw violence and depravity everywhere. 13So God said to Noah, "I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Yes, I will wipe them all from the face of the earth!
14"Make a boat[2] from resinous wood and seal it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. 15Make it 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high.[3] 16Construct an opening all the way around the boat, 18 inches[4] below the roof. Then put three decks inside the boat--bottom, middle, and upper--and put a door in the side.
17"Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing. Everything on earth will die! 18But I solemnly swear to keep you safe in the boat, with your wife and your sons and their wives. 19Bring a pair of every kind of animal--a male and a female--into the boat with you to keep them alive during the flood. 20Pairs of each kind of bird and each kind of animal, large and small alike, will come to you to be kept alive. 21And remember, take enough food for your family and for all the animals."
22So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.

I have never understood how people got that these were angels or aliens or whatever. Who are 'sons (and daughters) of God'? We are. That's shown all over the Bible.

Not to mention it does say in the hebrew "Ben YHVH" which means "Sons of G-d"..

We are referenced as the same in the latterday prophesies and in the NT..

"Sons of G-d" is used in reference to Angels.. and Y'shua said "we will be like the angels, neither male nor female"

Interpretations are a dime a dozen....or may be they are not.

Where did Jesus say that angels did not have flesh?

An angel appeared to Joseph, angels were present after the reserruction, and the word says that we migh entertain angels unawares.

Jesus said that angels neither marry nor or given in marriage.

So if the Nephlim took of themselves wives....they must be some being other than angels.

All of the passages in the Bible on this subject must be examined together, to form a better understanding. While some Angels are not constantly "solid", it does appear that in some circumstances they can use properties that belong to the physical universe. Consider, for example the passages in the O.T. where Angels intervened on the side of Israel to wage war against her oponents at the command of God.

In the old Testament "sons of God" are angels

Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

In the New Testament notice it says believers become "sons of God"

Jhn 1:12 But as many as received him, [b]to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:


Another agurment is that God has never, never destroyed men for marrying unbelievers. The son's of Seth have inherited Adam's sins just like Cain's sons did, none where righteous, all have sins. And to say the the son's of Seth where better is only speculation. Since God destroyed the earth with a flood because of the wickenedness that was going on, and only Noah was found perfect in his generation. So why didn't the son's of Seth and his descendant get saved also.

Gen 6:9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God.

Also Jude and Peter refer to these angels who left their Heavenly abode.


Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.


2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Noah was found perfect in his generation, because Noah was the only line on the earth that the trace of angels where not found.

This was satan way of trying to stop God from bringing forth Jesus. But God found one man Noah who's blood line was perfect. Notice it also says there was giants then and after the flood. Satan had another 400 +years to work on this again, when the Jews where in Egypt. You find that when they came into the land that God had given them, they found giants.


Num 13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, [is] a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it [are] men of a great stature.

Num 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
