voodoo: A religion practiced chiefly in Caribbean countries, especially Haiti, syncretized from Roman Catholic ritual elements and the animism and magic of slaves from West Africa, in which a supreme God rules a large pantheon of local and tutelary deities, deified ancestors, and saints, who communicate with believers in dreams, trances, and ritual possessions. The American Heritage Dictionary
"Voodoo practitioners believe in a supreme God and spirits who link the human with the divine. The spirits are summoned by offerings that include everything from rum to chickens."

I hope this helps.

Obviously this is another cult from the pits of Hell.......wonderfull........:rolleyes
I was taking out a couple of gentlemen from Malaysia that are here for buisness on a tour of Chicago. Some how we got into the conversation of religion, and they told me they were Buddists. Wow, I wished I could come out and say..."Listen to me, you are making the biggest mistake in your life!!!!!"......but of course, I couldn't........
I don't know, Sometimes I think about things like these and I try to put myself in non-Chritian's shoes. For example; for a child that was brought up Buddist, and knows nothing else than that, why would he change to Chritianity if Buddism had worked for him/her and their families for years.....know what I mean? It's like making ME change to Buddism after years of being a Christian...why would I, I mean.....I believe in Christ with all my heart, I would NEVER convert to anything else. Same thing......
So, what's my point? Well, how do you save someone that's been "something else" all they're lives. How do you begin to explain to them that Jesus Christ's way is the CORRECT and ONLY way, and not the one THEY practice..........
And the fact of the matter is that the are MILLIONS of people in this world that live in far away countries that follow "other" religions........how do you touch someone that is spritually so far away?
That is my quesion..................whew!:confused

Love'n'Christ:
You give to missions, work with missionaries, send care packages, pray for missionaries-- go out on the feild yourself.
How do you witness to someone of another belief system?
Learn their language.. Find out what they believe, compare it to the bible- and then when you meet one of them and they want to talk religion, talk about G-d and Y'shua as much as you have a chance to!
That's what I've done since middle school.. and it works..
All the other missionaries I know have done the same.

Voodoo has been recognised as an official religion in Haiti allowing priests to perform ceremonies from baptisms to marriages.
The practice of Voodoo is the reason that Haiti is the darkest, most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere. Haiti is ruled by the Prince of Darkness. But there are Christians there who are salt and light in that dark world. :thumb

Voodoo: a system of religious allegiance centering primarilly on allowing the direct seeking and contact of demonic spirits, with the Witch doctor usually standing at the top of the human spiritual hierarchy that oversees and attempts to ensure the control of Evil Powers over the everyday activities of its adherents.
Voodoo is practiced in Haiti, although it should be said that Haiti today, with all of its killings and drugs is the Result of the Voodoo control of that island.
Demon possessions are common, as well as the creation of those who contest its power into the "living dead". There appears to be a pharmacological explanation for the phenomenon, especially regarding altered states of consciousness, which voodoo is well known to induce routinely.
Santaria is related, but is an offshoot. While the two are similar and overlap, they are not identical. However demon possession, surrending to evil, and acts of self-defilement as an inducement to possession are common to both. Florida, New York, and New Orleans are local centers in the USA.
:(:
But God (the true one) - is more powerful.

Because if you are wrong to be a Christian, and reincarnation does exist, you can come around and can come back again...and try Buddhism the second time around...
But
If Christianity is true, and you try Buddhism the first time, you won't have a chance to come back around, but you will be wishing for eternity that you had made a wiser choice...

Santería (The way of the Saints) is sort of the Cuban version of VooDoo. Santeria is also called Regla de Orishas/Ochas (Rule of the Orishas) Orishas means Saints in the Afro-Cuban dialect. Is also called Lukumi, Santeros call each other Yorubas. (Brothers or Friends) Santería is an inside practice it is passed down from generation to generation, they don't have temples nor bibles and only gather at night secretly that's why their numbers don't really increase much. (Except for Haiti) Santería, Espiritismo and VooDoo is basically all the same.

You're right.
I've lived in Cuba, in Mississippi, Spain and Texas and found this all to be 100% true.
These numbers are slowly growing though...

Usually their numbers don't top 10% of the population of a country because they are not out there preaching in public, (again except for Haiti) in Puerto Rico is somewhere around 1%-2% if I'm not mistaken. They are quite sneaky and secretive so you never really know, but it wouldn't surprise me if their numbers are going up. Stuff like Astrology, Psychics and other New Age things a lot of times leads to it. They are reachable though, a good amount of envangelicals in P.R. are ex-santeros or ex-espiritistas, the number of ex-santeros in the Evangelical Church in the Dominican Republic is even higher. I've heard some good Testimonies from them.
