I imagine it would be quite similar to the way things work today.

Great Topic once again RJ! :thumb
Well, I think we will be permitted to do a great many things. The types of duties we may end up doing could include any of the following, IMHO: (in no specific order)
Judges.
Teachers.
Ambassadors to the gentile nations.
Rulers over those nations that are in rebellion, until they repent.
Builders.
Administrators in Christ's Government. Fleshing out whatever limited bureaucracy may be needed.
Helpers. Any burdens that the people can not deal with themselves that wasn't a matter of judgment against them.
Global Law Enforcement.
Emergency Rescue. No clue if it would be needed, but we would be the most qualified aside from angels.
That doesn't include all the other things we would be able to do that wouldn't necessarily be tied directly to a duty specifically for the Millennial period. There are countless things we could also end up doing that isn't necessary to assign to anyone, IMHO, and which we will all be eager to do (like sharing with people during this time all the great things God has done for us!)
It will be awesome because we are all one family of priest/kings under the Father and join-heirs with Christ. I don't think we can even imagine what that means yet! It may take a thousand years just for that one concept to sink in. I believe we will learn a great deal about our Father, and Jesus, and the Holy Spirit by being on the inside helping God in all these things. A person viewing things from the outside of an organization can only learn and understand so much, they can not fully grasp everything without being a part of it.
It's not going to be a totally joyful time for natural man on the Earth, like it will be for us. Rebellion and sin will still be a battle they will be fighting that we are no longer dealing with. I think a lot of time may be spent helping and encouraging people to stay focused on Jesus and serve Him; whether we are asked to help them or not.
I don't expect the world to be anything like it is today though... On any level. I expect technology, economics, and politics to be very different. Medicine will be different if still needed in the same way it is today, which I doubt. Transportation may be different. The list goes on. Yet, no matter how different or the same things are, we know that man will still be rebelling against Jesus, and we will be executing the sentence against them when they do, and at the end of the thousand years, a great many of them will openly defy God and be destroyed, closing that age.
Soon we will be home, and we will have all these questions answered, and we will be looking for things to do to serve God and help play a part in anything He is doing, even if we can only watch and relate to others some of the things He does, it will be a blessing just to be with Him. I look forward to sharing with all of you in anything that God allows us to do! If I have free time and you are looking for company in whatever task you are assigned or whatever Hobby or thing you wish to do, just say the word, and I'll go with. I leave an open invitation to all! If ever anyone wants to go with me or hang out, the more the merrier!

Werner,
Great post! That's exciting to look forward to. I understand that our work during the Lord's Millennial Reign is considered part of our training (as priest and kings) for eternity. I've heard our present life could be thought of as basic training (as soldiers in the Lord's Army). At the beginning of the eighth day, when God recreates the universe, we should be fully versed in the ways of the Lord.

I hate this stupid world so much now, I don't even want to think about coming back for a literal 1,000 yr reign:(:
I know, it will be different....I just can't imagine it.
My understanding is that there will STILL be sin. Must we deal with that for another thousand yrs.?

SadieGrace,
I've thought the same way before but remember 2 Peter 3:8, But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Maybe the Millenium will seem like a thousand years to the mortals on Earth but only one day to us glorified saints in eternity.

Sadie ~ heheh -- I actually went to bed last night thinking that same thing!!!
Thinking AAARGH!!!! :doh ~ I don't want to mess with sin again ~ not for another 1,000 years!!! :frusty :frusty and I got to thinking ~ okay, will our pets/animals/loved ones et al DIE!!??? ~ and we still have to experience *THAT PAIN*!!?? :cry
'course, we know that the ones who are in their GB's {glorified bodies} will *NOT* have to die......
but what about the trib saints? I believe they WILL have to {can't think of Scripture location right now.... bad brain day.....}
and animals?? :confused Golly, I simply don't know one way or another if they're going to have to suffer pain/agony/death during the mill. reign.
But I know that *DEATH* is the VERY LAST thing that is ever cast into the LOF (<--- "Lake of Fire")
So I suspect death will likely be a part of the mill reign ~ for all but like I say, the ones who were raptured.....
{making any sense here?? :confused}
Mike -- thanks!! That was uplifting, Brother!!

I think God will appoint us to various posts according to our ability and faithfulness. I fully expect to be in charge of something like "The Committee for Bottle Cap Recovery to Beautify the Planet." And I'll probably be extremely happy and think that the Lord made absolutely the right decision! Probably some of the most humble and faithful people we know will have awesome titles...whereas people like me who have to fight against competitiveness will be demoted. But it ultimately doesn't matter, because finally God will be in charge. I can't wait!

We don't judge things the same way that God does, that is for sure. Some people will enter Heaven expecting to receive nothing and will be raised up to a high position, while some will enter thinking they should be seeing the red carpet rolled out before them and find that they are given a much lesser position than most. I agree though that everyone will accept whatever duties they are allowed to do and be grateful that they were considered worthy to be allowed to play any part at all.
It always reminds me of this parable:
Luke 14:7-11
And He spoke a parable to those who had been invited, noting how they were choosing out the chief seats, saying to them, When you are invited by anyone to wedding feasts, do not recline at the chief seat lest one more honorable than you be invited by him, and coming, he who invited you will say to you, Give this one place. And then you begin with shame to take the last place. But when you are invited, going in, recline at the last place, so that when he who has invited you may come, he may say to you, Friend, go up higher. Then glory will be to you before those reclining with you. For everyone exalting himself will be humbled, and the one humbling himself will be exalted.
:tape :B:
We often forget though that the place to be is going to be Israel! The Jews will be lifted up and the whole world will be astonished at the blessings and grace given to them by God. The land will be restored and flow with milk and honey, clean water will run from the Temple and nourish the land, there will be peace throughout the whole area, and the Jews will teach the nations about God and be the examples to others that they were always meant to be. Most important of course... Jesus will be there!
:nod :eek :clap :thumb
It's going to be an amazing time, and we don't need to be worried or concerned about how it's going to work out for us, because it's all in God's Hands, and He loves us more than we can even understand, and He wants only the best for each of us. Whether we are given a high position, or a low one, whether we today would think the job was very important, or just one of many doing a menial task, we will understand then that it's a position that God has prepared us for and is allowing us to do. Our whole perspective will be different, and the way we think and judge things will be from a position of greater understanding and wisdom.
Who can say what yet awaits for all of us after the Millennium?! Lets keep in mind that the Millennium is only going to last for the thousand years, after that... who knows! Limitless possibilities lay before us, and once we are with Him we will never have to worry about sin again, either during the Millennium or beyond. We will be forever free from sin and corruption once we are with Him. No more trials or tribulation, no more doubts or fears. Don't fall into the trap of trying to rationalize what it will be like by looking around this world and the way things are, or the way we view things at this time.
All things will be different for us. All will be better! We will be with God! God is awesome!

There is something I have learned about regrets. Even though we don't like having them, it's an indicator that we are aware of the things in our life that we could have done differently. It means we are thinking about our past actions, where we are currently, and where we hope we will be in the future, doing those things that are pleasing to the Lord whenever possible. So, they do serve as a useful tool.
We must not allow them to bring us down where we feel defeated and that it's pointless to even try. Yep, I have been there also along with everyone else, and always the Holy Spirit is there to remind me that He knew all of this would come to pass before I ever did, knew what it would take to make me realize my mistakes, and knew there was a way to use this to get me to trust Him more and heed His counsel to prevent me from having any regrets in the future about my relationship with God.
My regrets now mostly revolve around the times I have refused to listen to Him and have done foolishly. Yet I know that they serve a purpose in reminding me of why it's important for me to listen and take seriously the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Remember that God takes into account our entire life, not just our past or this moment, and He has worked out a means for you to be useful to Him that takes into account every day you draw breath on this Earth.
The trials and failures and doubts of the past were all used by God to help sift you and prepare you for things He would yet have you do. By having similar experiences in life (both good and bad) we can better relate to one another and share with others what we went through, and how God helped us and led us out of or through the issues in our life.
Consider these two examples below. Who do you think had regrets? Who did Jesus praise? Who was He critical of?
Luke 21:1-6
And having looked up, He saw the rich ones putting their gifts into the treasury. And He also saw a certain poor widow putting two lepta there. And He said, Truly I say to you, This poor widow put in more than all. For all these out of their abundance put into the gifts to God, but she out of her poverty put in all the living which she had. And as some were speaking about the temple, that it had been adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, He said, As to these things that you see, days will come in which a stone will not be left on a stone, which will not be thrown down.
Luke 18:10-14
Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee was standing, praying these things to himself: God, I thank You that I am not as the rest of men, rapacious, unrighteous, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice on the sabbath; I tithe all things, as many as I get. And standing at a distance, the tax collector would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner! I say to you, This one went down to his house having been justified, rather than that one. For everyone exalting himself will be humbled. And the one humbling himself will be exalted.
Something to think about... :):

I have spent time wondering what is going on around me in the spiritual realm. Trying to grasp just a small portion of the power and activity that is there. After reading this thread, you got me to wondering if the millinium people, in flesh will be able to see what is going on in the Spirit realm, then I realized we will be a part of it! I'll be a part of what I was wondering about!!! WOW!
I continue to be amazed and wonder what our relationships will be like with people during the millinium along with what we will be doing.
I too wonder about what we'll be doing after the millinium, whatever it is it's going to be wonderful! Are we God's ultimate creation, created in His image? Will He create more beings and things? I just know I'm looking forward to being a part of whatever God does.
Great thread RJ thanks!

The word says we will be kings and priests......
I suppose "kings" could be construed as political leaders and such, and perhaps priests would be teachers and counsellors and
people to lead us in worship of the King of Kings and Lord and Lords who will reside in Jerusalem......
Our God is an awesome God!!!

Psalm 149
Praise Jehovah! Sing to Jehovah a new song, His praise in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praise to Him with the timbrel and lyre. For Jehovah takes pleasure in His people; He beautifies the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory; let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the exaltation of God be in their throat, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, punishment on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with iron bands; to execute on them the judgment written; this is an honor for all His saints. Praise Jehovah!
Revelation 2:7 Access to the Tree of Life.
Revelation 2:11 Safe from the second death.
Revelation 2:17 Given the hidden manna; a new name.
Revelation 2:26-28 Authority over the nations; Jesus.
Revelation 3:4 Walk with Jesus in white.
Revelation 3:5 Justified before the Father and His angels by Jesus.
Revelation 3:9 False Jews to give us honor.
Revelation 3:10-12 Kept from God's judgment now and forever; Access to the Father; Perfect relationship with God.
Revelation 3:21 Joint-heirs with Jesus forever.
Revelation 5:10
and made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign over the earth.
Revelation 7:15-17
Because of this they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His sanctuary. And He sitting on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. And they will not hunger still, nor will they thirst still, nor at all shall fall on them the sun, nor any kind of heat. Because the Lamb in the midst of the throne will shepherd them, and will lead them on living springs of waters; and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.
Revelation 20:4-6
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them. And judgment was given to them, and the souls of the ones having been beheaded because of the witness of Jesus, and because of the Word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast nor its image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one having part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years.
Revelation 21:1-7
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and the sea no longer is. And I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride, having been adorned for her Husband. And I heard a great voice out of Heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God with men! And He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no longer, nor mourning, nor outcry, nor will there be pain any more; for the first things passed away. And the One sitting on the throne said, Behold! I make all things new. And He says to me, Write, because these Words are faithful and true. And He said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending. To the one thirsting, I will freely give of the fountain of the Water of Life. The one overcoming will inherit all things, and I will be God to him, and he will be the son to Me.
Revelation 21:1-7 always makes me :eek :faint :hail
Rev 22:1-5
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, bright as crystal, coming forth out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of its street and of the river, from here and from there, was a tree of life producing twelve fruits: according to one month each yielding its fruit. And the leaves of the tree were for healing of the nations. And every curse will no longer be. And the throne of God and the Lamb will be in it; and His slaves will serve Him. And they will see His face; and His name will be on their foreheads. And night will not be there; and they have no need of a lamp or a light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them. And they shall reign to the ages of the ages.
Isaiah 11
And a Shoot goes out from the stump of Jesse, and a Branch will bear fruit out of his roots. And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest on Him; He will have the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. And He is made to breathe in the fear of Jehovah. But He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears. But He shall judge the poor in righteousness, and shall decide rightly for the meek of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and He shall cause the wicked to die with the breath of His lip. And righteousness shall be the encircler of His loins, and faithfulness the encircler of His reins.
And the wolf shall live with the lamb; and the leopard shall lie with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little boy shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall feed, their young shall lie together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the infant shall play on the hole of the asp; yea, the weaned child shall put his hand on the viper's den. They shall not do evil, nor destroy in all My holy mountain. For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea.
And it shall be in that day, the Root of Jesse stands as a banner of peoples; nations shall seek to Him; and His resting place shall be glory. And it shall be in that day, the Lord shall again set His hand, the second time, to recover the remnant of His people that remains, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Ethiopia, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the coasts of the sea. And He shall lift up a banner for the nations, and shall gather the outcasts of Israel, and gather those dispersed from Judah, from the four wings of the earth.
And the envy of Ephraim shall turn off; and Judah's foes shall be cut off. Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not trouble Ephraim. But they shall fly onto the shoulder of the Philistines to the west; together they shall plunder the sons of the east, the stretching of the hand on Edom and Moab and the sons of Ammon; they will obey them.
And Jehovah shall utterly destroy the tongue of the sea of Egypt; and with His scorching wind He shall wave His hand over the River, and shall strike it into seven torrents, and make one tread it with shoes. And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria, as it was to Israel in the day when he came up out of the land of Egypt.
Isaiah 49
Hear Me, coastlands, and you people from afar, and prick up your ear, Jehovah called Me from the womb; He mentioned My name from My mother's belly. And He made My mouth like a sharp sword; He hid Me in the shadow of His hand, and made Me a polished arrow; He hid Me in His quiver; and said to Me, You are My servant, Israel, You in whom I shall be glorified. Then I said, I have labored in vain; I have spent My strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely My judgment is with Jehovah, and My work with My God. And now, says Jehovah who formed Me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to Him: Though Israel is not gathered, yet I am honored in the eye of Jehovah, and My God is My strength. And He said, It is too little that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You for a light of the nations, that You may be My salvation to the end of the earth.
So says Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, His Holy One, to the despised of soul, to the hated of the nation, the servant of rulers, Kings shall see and rise up; and chiefs shall worship; because of Jehovah who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel; and He chose You. So says Jehovah: In a favorable time I have answered You, and in a day of salvation I have helped You. And I will preserve You, and give You for a covenant of the people; to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolated inheritances; to say to the prisoners, Go out! To those who are in darkness, Reveal yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
They shall not hunger nor thirst; and the heat and sun shall not strike them. For He who has mercy on them shall lead them; and He shall guide them by the springs of water. And I will make all My mountains a way, and My highways shall be set on high. Behold, these shall come from afar; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; break out into singing, O mountains. For Jehovah has comforted His people and will have pity on His afflicted.
But Zion said, Jehovah has forsaken me, and, My Lord has forgotten me. Can a woman forget her suckling child, from pitying the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will surely not forget you. Behold, I have carved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are always before Me. Your sons hurry; those destroying you and ruining you shall go out from you. Lift up your eyes all around and see! They all gather and come to you. As I live, says Jehovah, you shall surely wear all of them as an ornament, and bind them on as a bride. For your wastes and your deserted places, and your land of ruins shall even now be too narrow to live there; and they who swallow you shall be far away.
The sons of your bereavement shall yet say in your ears, The place is too narrow for me; come near for me so that I may have place to live. Then you shall say in your heart, Who has borne these to me, for I am bereaved and desolate, turned aside and an exile; who then has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone. From where do these come? So says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations, and will set up My banner to peoples. And they shall bring your sons in the bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on the shoulder. And kings shall be supporting you, and their princesses your nurses. They shall bow to you, faces down to the earth, and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am Jehovah, by whom they who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.
Shall the plunder be taken from the mighty, or the righteous captive escape? But so says Jehovah, Even the captives of the warrior shall be taken, and the plunder of the terrifying ones shall be delivered. For I will strive with him who contends with you; and I will save your sons. And those who oppress you, I will feed with their own flesh: and they shall be drunk by their own blood, as with fresh wine. And all flesh shall know that I Jehovah am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
OK, I better stop before I get carried away. :doh
While we have a destiny before us that we can not even begin to fathom or appreciate, Israel also has a destiny that will be awesome. What an awesome God we serve! We have nothing to fear or worry about because there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1)! It will be such an incredible time, and it will last forever for us. Our status doesn't diminish after the Millennium. We will always be God's Children, and the gifts and blessings we are given are without repentance and have no expiration date. I can not even begin to rationalize the implications or the depth of that. Praise God! I can't wait to see you all there!

We won't be capable of sin, thank the Lord, but the mortals who populate the earth will be. Fortunately, Satan will be confined to the bottomless pit, so he won't be able to tempt people as he can now. (Where his demons will be, I don't know--they'll either be with him or in the Lake of Fire with the Antichrist and the False Prophet.) The only temptations will be coming from people's own lusts. Also, Jesus will be on hand in person to keep a tight rein on sin, so there will be no open rebellions until the end of the Millennium, when Satan will be temporarily released to reveal the rebellion in the hearts of the unsaved.
Yours truly,
Kathy G.
