Earlier this week, I received a "word of knowledge"....Literally that...a "word".
The word was "gentle". I posted about it on another board and it has filled my heart and mind since that time.
This week also, I had my kids memorizing and recounting the verse, Philippians 4:8. In fact, they said it at breakfast this morning before we went to church.
This morning, as part of my group e-mail bible study, I sent out the passages in Matthew on "Do not worry".
Wanna guess what the sermon was on this morning (I had no idea)?
Exhibiting Gentleness.
Philippians 4:8
and you guessed it! Do Not Worry!
My daughter's jaw kept dropping during the sermon. She kept asking, "How did you know, Mom?" I, on the other hand, bowed my head in prayer and thanked the Lord for His message. Clearly, He is trying to tell me something (and others?). I had tears in my eyes as I left the service today.
Coincidence? I don't think so. There are far too many bible verses for these to have been picked at random and used today.
The Lord is speaking. My daughter and I are listening.

Ynott, thank you so much for sharing this!
At the Christian bookstore they sell these cheap, plastic bracelets with the fruits of the spirit spelled out on the beads....I decided to get one to remind myself that i need to pray for that one in my life...it was 'gentleness' ~ this was about 4 months ago, but it is still something God has spoken to me about numerous times and I've prayed that He will cultivate it in me.

That is wonderful, Ynott! I had something similar happen to me a few months ago. I usually don't listen to music before getting ready for church. But one particular Sunday, I had a distinct urge to pop in my Steve Bell Beyond a Shadow cd. I hadn't listened to it for months, but I had a strong desire to listen to a song called Psalm 40 on it. When I got to church, my mouth dropped when Pastor asked us all to open our Bibles to Psalm 40. His sermon was based on several passages there. It touched my heart.:):

How wonderful, ButnowIC! Yes, the Lord IS talking to us! When things like this happen, I find I "listen more closely" and think more deeply. Sometimes I am led to the most amazing things in the Bible during such an event.
God is so good!

Thanks for sharing! Yes, this happens to me quite often.
Sometimes a word or passage. For instance a couple years ago I was driving down the road and "Be still and know that I am God" just flooded me, it stayed with me awhile and I believe it was the Holy Spirit teaching/comforting me.
A couple years ago (pre RR days) Hyssop started popping into my mind, I had no idea what it was other than referenced to in the Bible, I did a search and found out the Biblical meaning/history of the plant-very cool BTW.
This year has been The Truth will set you free. . Keep oil in your lamp.. Lukewarm.. and Serve/Service (Matt. 20:25-28), Roles/Godly order & there are a couple others too, it usually leads to in depth study that helps me grow in the Lord.. Humility (hyssop) has been a biggie that has never left me, the H.S. knows where my weak spots are and won't let me forget!
The most interesting thing is, like you - a word will be put on my heart/mind and then presto! In church a topic, or in a friends struggle it brings truth or healing, or on the C. radio teaching & it is right in your face, lol, I love it :thumb God is so good!!!!! Little reminders that we are in communiacation with Him and that He loves us..
Another thing I've noticed on RR is that, the Holy Spirit works on certain topics and on many peoples hearts about the same subject- at the same time. I keep running into brothers and especially sisters who have been convicted of something recently that they share and it is the same thing the H.S. has been impressing on me!

I agree, we do learn to listen more closely when we know He is communicating with us this way.

Hyssop, that was simply beautiful! I loved it. You expressed so much better what I am feeling.
Yes! God is communicating with us in such a loving and personal manner.
Yes! I see it in groups here on the board and among friends too!

A very dear young lady at our chuch was giving a testmony of a recent communication she rec'd from God. I thought, later, Oh, I would just love to hear you Lord. I really didn't know 'what' to listen for.
Approximately a wk. later it happened! ( let me tell you in advance, my wording is 'not backwords by accident).
I was getting dressed, had my jeans on and was just pulling my shirt over my head. (I had nothing on my mind). In an instant...
this voice popped in my head, it was my voice, but yet different and it actually sounded like talking next to me, not inside my head. Anyway I was like frozen in time. HE said..."The 'sheep' in 'wolves' clothing that cries out, it is your son". I just broke down bauling!
I went to get my bible and ask God to show me more. I opened without turning pages or looking what book I was going to.
I put my hand down and at my fingertips was:
John 10: 14 "I am the good shepherd, and know of my sheep...
" " : 15 "And other sheep I have which are not of this
fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear
my voice....
Praise God \0/
** My son I think sets the clothing styles lol...not follow. But inside he is such a good person and so gentle... but you see, I don't know if he is saved.

There are NO coincidences from God. Give God the Glory!
My son came home with the same memory verse from school and church in the same week. I took this to mean that God says :thumb to ur choice of schools and church!

ps This was also our scripture at church. This is a message from God to hold on tight while these evil days get worse. We must lift each other up!

Yrs. ago, I had that verse written down on a peace of
paper as ( Phil 4:13), because I was going thru hard
times and it was a good one to refer back to.
My (ex) husband found it and went bazerk!:yell
He thought it was a guy named Phil and a time I was
probably going to meet with him!:rolleyes :laugh

Grace and peace to you all.
Yes, God spoke to me awhile back about a church situation I didn't understand. It is rather personal, so I must not elaborate, but when God provided the answer in a Christian book "Secrets of the Vine" I started weeping with joy. That was the first time my wife had ever seen me weep in the 28 years of our marriage. So Ynott, I understand how moving it is when God speaks to us in such a way as you described. Isn't it a shame that our non-believing friends miss such blessings and hear them say, "I've never heard God."
